Some trips don't need a big write-up. This is one of them, mostly.

We picked this route because it looked reasonable on the map, which should have been the first warning sign. The last stretch to the ridge turned into scrambling over loose rock with full packs, and by the time we hit the top nobody was talking, just breathing.

Worth it anyway. The kind of view that makes you forget your knees for a minute.

A few honest notes for next time:

  • Start earlier than feels necessary. The wind picks up on exposed ridgeline in the afternoon, and it's not the kind of place you want to be caught in a gust with a full pack.

  • Bring more water than the trip planner says. Always.

  • No cell signal for most of the route — tell someone your plan before you go, not just your general direction.

Nothing dramatic happened, which honestly might be the best kind of trip report to write.
